The Gusties fell 12-4 in game one, and 4-3 in extra innings in game two. Alan Woitas had a good day at the plate, going 3-7 with three RBI’s, a double, and a home run.
At Olivet Nazarene University, champions are trained for success on and off the playing field. Competitors bloom while playing for a national title; they become champions by serving the community around them. Olivet coaches and players understand winning comes from excellence, and that character comes from perseverance.
Olivet competes at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I level, comparable to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II. The Tigers compete in two of the strongest conferences in the NAIA, the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA).
Building a dynasty: The Men’s Basketball team has quietly been doing this for more than 15 years. With 10 CCAC Championships and 11 NAIA National Tournament appearances since 1989, the Tigers have proven they will be a Conference contender year after year.
Adding to this success by advancing to the NAIA Elite Eight three times and the NAIA Final Four, Olivet’s basketball program continues to dominate the competition.
When the Lady Tigers take to the floor of McHie Arena, they are sure to get some hearts pounding. Their fast-paced, high-scoring offense excites the crowd and stuns the competition. Proponents of the run-and-gun style of play, the Tigers routinely score more than 80, 90, even 100 points a game.
With two CCAC titles in five years, and a trip to the NAIA National Tournament, Olivet women are hungry for more success. Watch out! They’re a threat every time they step on the court.
